Defiant Coyle backs players
Glentoran suffered more injury problems against Dungannon Swifts
Ryan Berry came on for the injured Pat McGibbon
Defiant Glentoran manager Roy Coyle has backed his players despite another league defeat way to Dungannon Swifts.

The champions now lag 13 points behind leaders Linfield and seem to have no chance to retaining their crown.

"We have had a bad December but we will plug on and keep fighting away," Coyle told the Glentoran website after his side fell to a third defeat in four.

"There is no problem with character, it is all about getting results. Dungannon took their chances and we did not."

Coyle has been hit by a spate on injuries and has had to call on inexperienced youngsters from the reserves.

Seventeen-year-old Ryan Berry came off the bench in the first half on Saturday at Stangmore Park after Pat McGibbon had to go off.

David Hampton (20) and Andy Rainey (19) were also in the squad.

Boss Coyle was full of praise for Berry's performance.

"He was superb. He has come in at a time when confidence is not great.

"I thought the lad showed immense courage by wanting the ball and to do things with it. I thought he was outstanding."
