Cliftonville came from behind twice to claim a point as Tommy Wright's Ballymena extended their unbeaten run to six matches in league and cup. The Sky Blues had a dream start as Garth Scates blasted them into a first-minute lead.
Gary Kennedy levelled straight from a corner on 10 minutes but Ballymena edged in front again when Kevin Kelbie shot past keeper Paul Straney.
Sean Friars scored Cliftonville's second with a 52nd-minute penalty.
The spot-kick was awarded after United defender Albert Watson pushed Kennedy.
Chris Scannell struck a post for Cliftonville who have won just one league game at home all season.
