Linfield's Glenn Ferguson stormed to the top of the Irish League scoring chart with four strikes against his old club Glenavon on Saturday. It was eight years ago when the former NI striker moved from the Lurgan Blues for 55,000 and he celebrated in style.
"I always enjoy coming back to Mourneview, it's a lovely wee ground to play on," said Ferguson who has taken his total to 30 for the season.
"It's a pity that I couldn't get one more to make it 200 for Linfield.
Ferguson's four-goal demolition job took him to 449 goals in the Irish League and his quadruple strike saw him edge his fellow Blues' striker Peter Thompson by one this season.
"There are a number of those goals that stick out," said the 36-year-old Linfield icon.
"A couple of my hat-tricks in particular stand out. I've scored some good goals, but it's hard to remember them," said Ferguson who scored twice from the spot on Saturday.
"It's been well documented about our penalty-taking this season and I've missed three times. But I hit the first one really well and I doubt if any keeper would have stopped it.
"As the match went on, the confidence grew and the goals came and I scored another one from the spot."
