Tommy Wright saw his Ballymena side take victory |
A second half goal from Vincent Sweeney gave the Sky Blues victory in the derby match at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Sweeney and Rory Hamill had chances in a first half which Ballymena dominated in terms of possession while Stephen Carson shot over the bar for Coleraine.
Sweeney headed in after Gary Smyth's header from Garth Scates' corner rebounded off the bar on 72 minutes.
After 84, Stewart McCallum was sent-off for a challenge on Craig McClean and William McFredrick denied Darren Boyce.
Early in the game Sweeney shot wide and Hamill was wide of the post with another effort before the Bannsiders' Paul Gaston went off with an ankle injury.
Former Limavady striker Sweeney notched his tenth of the season before McCallum was dismissed and then McFrederick kept his side ahead with a fine one handed save late in the game.
