Scott Young is in despair after suffering his latest leg break |
Glentoran's convincing win at Glenavon was marred by the news that Scott Young had suffered another leg break. Young, just back in action after a leg break, was stretchered off in the first half of the game at Mourneview Park.
Peter McCann opened the scoring with a long range effort which deceived goalkeeper Andy McDonald on 24 minutes.
Gary Browne hooked in the second after Shaun Holmes' corner on 67 minutes and Darren Lockhart slid the ball home past McDonald six minutes from time.
In the first half, McCann, Lockhart and Browne all hit the woodwork and McDonald produced a fine save.
At the other end, Aiden McVeigh forced an impressive stop from Elliott Morris.
Glentoran manager Roy Coyle said Young's leg break had taken "the gloss" off his team's win.
"He has broken both the tibia and fibula which is such bad luck for him," said Coyle.
"All the players and staff want to give him their best wishes. He's in our thoughts tonight."
