Defending champions Glentoran opened up a two-point lead in the Irish Premier League with second-half goals earning a 2-0 home win over Armagh City.

With Linfield and Portadown both drawing, Roy Coyle's men are the only team left with a 100% record.

But they had to wait until the 57th minute for the breakthrough when Gary Brown stroked the ball past Paul Rice.

Shaun Holmes netted Glentoran's second on 72 minutes with a low drive from the edge of the penalty area.

The Glens suffered an early setback when Peter McCann limped off and was replaced in midfield by Scott Young.

Armagh's Davy Ward had a couple of half chances in the first period but failed to make a solid connection.
