Larne's teenage star Robbie Weir has joined Sunderland after turning down the chance to sign for Stoke City. The 17-year-old Irish League midfielder was also being chased by Rangers and Fulham, but Mick McCarthy's side have won the race.
Weir becomes the second Irish teenager to join the Black Cats inside 10 days after Republic of Ireland Under-18 international Billy Dennehy signed.
"It would be great to see him making it," said Larne manager Jimmy McGeough.
