David Jeffrey has brought Shannon back to Windsor Park |
Goalkeeper Greg Shannon has returned to Linfield on a two-year contract just hours after having his contract cancelled by Ballymena United. The 25-year-old joined Tommy Wright's squad from the Blues in June but only played three games in his short spell at the Showgrounds.
Former Institute goalkeeper Ciaran McLaughlin has been brought in to replace him.
Meanwhile, United striker Gareth Mullan has joined the Drumahoe club.
Shannon made only nine appearances for Linfield in his first spell with the club due to the impressive form of Alan Mannus.
Linfield manager David Jeffrey was quick to snap up the promising keeper when he was made available by United.
"I was dissapointed to lose him to Ballymena," Jeffrey told the club website.
"He felt he would have a better chance of first team football there but for reasons unknown to me, they terminated his contract.
"Greg then contacted me and I am pleased to say he has signed a two-year contract with us."
