Ballymena boss Tommy Wright saw his side defeat Glenavon |
Ballymena claimed their first victory in CIS Cup Group Two on Thursday night thanks to a superb strike from Vincent Sweeney at the Showgrounds. United's Nigel Boyd almost scored an own goal on 28 minutes while former Sky Blues striker Shea Campbell missed two first half opportunities for Glenavon.
Sweeney followed up a stunning goal on Saturday with another on 57 minutes, a volleyed finish from 16 yards.
Campbell wasted another two openings as Ballymena secured the three points.
Glenavon are still without a point from their first three CIS Cup games, in which they have scored just once.
