Omagh Town 1-8 Linfield
Peter Thompson of Linfield

New Omagh Town manager Paul Kee saw his side crushed by champions Linfield in a second-half landslide at St Julian's.

The bottom club had kept David Jeffrey's champions at bay for 50 minutes but then conceded seven goals in an extraordinary collapse.

Andrew Hunter scored two and the others came from Peter Thompson, David Larmour, Darren Murphy, Stuart King and Aidan O'Kane and Mark Picking.

Damien Whitehead got a consolation score for Omagh.

It means Omagh have conceded 28 goals in their last four league matches.

The result will underline the size of the task facing new boss Kee as he tries to turn things round at the County Tyrone club.

Omagh have taken just one point from their eight league fixtures and are four adrift of Cliftonville and Crusaders.

Kee would have been satisfied by the 0-0 scoreline at half-time but the floodgates opened in the second period.

Hunter headed the opener on 50 minutes from an O'Kane corner and three minutes later Blues substitute Thompson capitalised in a mistake by home keeper Damien Bradley to make it 2-0.

Larmour pounced on a weak backpass to make it three goals in five minutes while Murphy netted a close-range effort on the hour mark.

Further goals from King (66 mins), Hunter (69) and O'Kane (78) emphasised Linfield's superiority.

Whitehead deprived Linfield keeper Alan Mannus of a clean sheet but the Blues had the last score through Picking.
