Tommy Kincaid takes over a struggling Glenavon outfit |
Tommy Kincaid has been appointed as the new Glenavon manager. Kincaid, who resigned as Larne manager in December, was at Mourneview Park last Saturday to see Glenavon lose to 2-0 to Institute.
Glenavon are currently in a dire position, six points adrift at the bottom of the Premier Division.
Kincaid, however, said he relished the chance to revive the Lurgan outfit's fortunes.
"I believe I can turn things around because there are some good players at Glenavon," said Kincaid.
Glenavon are favourites to drop down to the First Division of the Daily Mirror Irish League, having won just two of their 17 games in the Premier Division this season.
It would be their first time out of top flight Irish League football for over 90 years.

"Obviously confidence among the players could be higher but it only takes a couple of good results to put that right," said Kincaid. Glenavon take on Portadown in the Irish Cup on Saturday but Kincaid says that Tuesday's league game against fellow-strugglers Cliftonville is a more important contest for his side.
"It's important that we start picking up points quickly and try and get above the club who are above us who happen to be Cliftonville," said Kincaid.
The new boss revealed that he has already been contact by former boss Alfie Wylie who stood down from the Mourneview Park job last week.
"Alfie said he would help in any way that he could which shows the calibre of the man."
Kincaid will attempt to add to Glenavon's squad before the transfer window closes later this month.
"I'll search this country and maybe other countries to see if there's anybody out there who could do a job for us."
