GROUP C: ARGENTINA 1-0 PARAGUAY
Mascherano guided his side to victory |
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano scored 12 minutes from time to hand Argentina victory and ensure his team finished top of Group C in the Copa America.
The former West Ham player collected a loose ball on the edge of the box and fired past goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla with a well-executed shot.
Real Zaragoza star Pablo Aimar came close early in the match, Manchester United target Carlos Tevez hit the post 10 minutes after the break while Rodrigo Palacio saw his shot come back off the bar.
By finishing top of their group, Argentina avoided a potentially tricky last-eight tie against Mexico and will instead face Peru.
Argentina coach Alfio Basile:
"We won well, they defended with eight or nine and we tried all sorts of variations. "We deserved to win because we were superior."
GROUP C: COLOMBIA 1-0 USA
A header in the first half from Jaime Castrillon gave Colombia victory over the United States as both sides bowed out of Copa America.

Castrillon nodded in Camilo Zuniga's cross to score the only goal of an eventful game.
Team-mate Hugo Rodallega earned a penalty after he was brought down by keeper Brad Guzan.
But the American number one made amends by diving right to deny Rodallega from the spot.
Rodallega ended up in goal himself when he replaced Colombia keeper Robinson Zapata who was sent off after receiving two yellow cards, both for time-wasting.
Zapata took two minutes to leave the field after arguing over the decision.
