 | NORTHERN IRELAND v WALES Kick-off: 1400 BST, Saturday, 8 October Venue: Windsor Park, Belfast Live on BBC TV, radio and this website |
Northern Ireland have been forced to make two changes to the team that beat England for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Wales. Skipper Aaron Hughes, who is recovering from a hernia operation, and the suspended Chris Baird are missing from Lawrie Sanchez's defence.
Burnley full-back Michael Duff and Rotherham central defender Colin Murdock are the replacements.
Baird will be available for the match against Austria in Vienna on Wednesday.
West Ham goalkeeper Roy Carroll and Luton midfielder Steve Robinson have both returned home because of a hairline fracture of the thumb and a heel injury respectively.
Goalkeeper Maik Taylor has been given the all-clear to face the Welsh who are making their first visit to Belfast for 22 years.
Taylor has been troubled by back pain but took part in training this week and boss Sanchez confirmed the Birmingham keeper would captain the side.
After home wins over Azerbaijan and England, Northern Ireland have an outside chance of finishing third in Group Six.
If England beat Austria, a win over Wales would put Northern Ireland level on points with the Austrians, four days before the province finish their campaign in Vienna.
