Christian Wilhelmsson played for Anderlecht against Celtic

The 24-year-old is in Edinburgh for Sweden's friendly against Scotland at Easter Road on Wednesday.

"I don't want to say too much because I have a two-and-a-half contract with my club," he said.

"But there are a lot of things happening at the moment and, of course, I would be interested in signing for Celtic as they're a fantastic club."

Wilhelmsson was part of the Anderlecht team that defeated Celtic in the Champions League last season, leading to speculation of a possible bid by the Glasgow club.

But he said: "I want to focus on my football.

"But that would be a great experience to go to a club like that.

"So, even though that has not happened yet, I will always try to prove myself to get that opportunity."
