Henrik Larsson scored twice against Iceland |
Norwich City's Mattias Jonson and Monaco's Pontus Farnerud have been ruled out of the Sweden squad for Wednesday's friendly against Scotland. Halmstad winger Sharbel Touma has been called in as midfield cover.
The 25-year-old has netted 10 goals in 26 domestic appearances this season and is likely to earn a second cap.
Sweden assistant manager Roland Andersson said: "Sharbel was in our thoughts already before naming the squad and he will therefore travel."
Touma, who made his first appearance for his country during an indoor match against Finland in 2001, is delighted to be back on the international scene.
"I am proud to be in the squad and now it's up to the managers to decide if I will also be in the team or not," he said.
Injuries to Jonson and Farnerud added to the absence of Henrik Larsson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Freddie Ljungberg for the match at Hibernian's Easter Road Stadium.
The return of former Celtic striker Larsson had been much anticipated for the friendly in Edinburgh.
But the Barcelona man, fellow striker Ibrahimovic, of Juventus, and Arsenal winger Ljungberg are missing from the side that defeated Iceland 4-1 after being allowed to concentrate on their club football.
Larsson had scored twice in Iceland as a victory took the Swedes to the top of Europe's World Cup qualifying Group 8.
Despite the big-name absentees, Sweden coach Lars Lagerback was able to name a strong 20-man squad for next Wednesday's friendly.
There were also call-ups for Austria Vienna's Mikael Antonsson, fellow defender Mikael Dorsin, of Rosenborg Trondheim, Esbjerg midfielder Fredrik Berglund and Brondby striker Johan Elmander.
Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman was included and made a timely return for the Glasgow club at the weekend, his last first-team outing having been in December.
