Arsenal defender Ashley Cole is ready to drop his "tapping up" legal case to clear the way for a �16m move to Chelsea. (Daily Mirror)

Monaco are to offer �3m for Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong. (Various)

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer �7m for Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan. (The Times)

Arsenal will sign Argentine Javier Saviola for �4m from Barcelona this week. (The Sun)

West Bromwich Albion have rejected a �5.5m bid from Spurs for defender Curtis Davies. (The Times)

Meanwhile Arsenal are ready to step in with a �8m offer for Davies, though West Brom want at least �10m for the centre-back. (Daily Mirror)

Fulham are close to agreeing a �700,000 deal to sign Hammarby forward Bjorn Runstrom. (The Times).

Man Utd expect to agree a �14m fee with Spurs for Michael Carrick when transfer talks resume next week. (The Times)

FUNNIES

Plymouth manager Ian Holloway is looking forward to pitting his wits against the might of Real Madrid on 21 July after the Spanish giants agreed to play a friendly match in strange circumstances.

New Real coach Fabio Capello was desperate for his side to stay in Austria's Schloss Pichlarn Hotel, which Argyle had already booked, and agreed to play the match in return for exclusive use of the accommodation.

Holloway said: "Who are they to move us? I don't like it myself - we're Argyle, get out of our way! We'll leave something on a few of them and I don't think they'll like that too much."
