Real Madrid striker Michael Owen says it is premature to label him one of the club's famous 'galacticos'. Owen, an 8m signing from Liverpool, joined up with Real's star-studded squad last week, and could make his debut against Real Mallorca on Sunday.
"I don't see myself as a galactico yet," Owen told Football Focus.
"I'd like to perform well and then you can call me what you want! I'll settle for being a normal squad player until I produce the goods on the pitch."
Despite Owen's own achievements, the former European Footballer of the Year admitted to being slightly overawed on his first day of training with his new team-mates.
He said: "Let's just say I was very nervous going in for the first session, among all those stars! "I never expected to join a team as good as Real Madrid.
"They are the best team in the world, so obviously when they came calling, it was hard to say no."
