Fans flocked to watch Owen |
Michael Owen has taken part in his first full training session with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Nearly a thousand fans turned out to see the former Liverpool star link up with his new team-mates at Madrid's Las Rozas training ground on Thursday.
England colleague David Beckham introduced Owen to the rest of the squad and helped translate instructions from the coach.
The striker could make his debut at Mallorca on 29 August.
Owen and Beckham, who scored a goal apiece in England's 3-0 defeat of the Ukraine at St James Park, chatted as they jogged around the field.
The pair could be joined in Spain by a third Englishman, Jonathan Woodgate, who is thought to be on the verge of a 13.4m move to the Bernabeu.
A spokesperson for Owen's management company, SFX, said: "Michael is massively excited about his new career in Spain and couldn't wait to start training with his new team-mates.
"He's obviously looking forward to making his debut for such a world famous club."
