Oxford City are happy after being handed a home tie against Blue Square Premier side Eastbourne Borough in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
But secretary John Shepherd admits the Southern League Premier Division side had hoped to meet Oxford United.
"The only thing that would have been better would have been an all-Oxford game," Shepherd said.
Shepherd said the tie would be played at the same time United host Hayes & Yeading; 1500 BST on 25 October.
"It gives us a chance to test ourselves against Conference opposition, but I don't think we will be able to change the kick-off," he added.
City's Southern League Premier Division rivals Brackley will be away to Hampton & Richmond.
