Swann apologises for Trinity loss

Gainsborough Trinity director of football Peter Swann has apologised to the club's fans who watched their 3-0 FA Cup defeat away at Halesowen town.

Swann has also offered to pay for their transport to a forthcoming away match.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "When people pay large amounts to go to a match they deserve 100% effort from the players but they just didn't play.

"These fans are fully committed to the club so we're going to give them something back."

Trinity were out-fought by their Southern Premier Division opponents, who led 2-0 at the break through Dean Smith and Aaron Cornwall, with Zema Abbey rounding things off two minutes from time.

Manager Steve Charles admitted: "We didn't play well in the first half and probably got what we deserved.

"I have to shoulder some of the responsibility, as if I'm honest I think I picked the wrong side for the game."
