McKenna insists TNS still in tie
TNS manager Ken McKenna
TNS boss Ken McKenna is holding on to the slim hope of an unlikely comeback against Liverpool in the Champions League after a 3-0 first leg loss.

"Maybe we can also come back from 3-0 down, just like Liverpool did against AC Milan," he said.

"But seriously, I felt the third goal was a killer. We were so close to an excellent result. But I was still delighted with a magnificent display.

"We had a gameplan and stuck to it. A couple of individual mistakes cost us."

He added: "If you do that you are punished at this level. Our lads were caught cold a bit, but when they settled into the atmosphere they showed what a good side they are.

"But in the end it was Gerrard who won it. He is unbelievable. He played against us just like he did in the Champions League final, and that's a credit to him.

"Our lads in midfield were spinning at half-time having tried to contain Gerrard and Xabi Alonso, they didn't know what day it was.

"You can't stop people with that quality."
