A catastrophic loss to Iceland typified a disappointing qualifying campaign for the Euro 96 finalists.

The likes of Patrick Berger, Vladimir Smicer, Karel Poborsky and Tomas Rosicky need a vast improvement if they are to make the trip to Portugal in 2004.

Holland
Coach: Dick Advocaat
The most talented squad to miss out on World Cup qualification, Holland fans will expect much better things of their team en route to Portugal, 2004.

Boasting a front line of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Patrick Kluivert, the Dutch will always score goals.

And Jaap Stam and the De Boer brothers add resilience at the back.

Soon after the draw was made the Dutch Football Association confimed the appointment of Dick Advocaat as their new coach.

Austria
Coach: Hans Krankl Austria could have avoided the hard work of qualifying for Euro 2004 had their joint bid with Hungary for the Championship been successful.

As it is, the team will be hoping for a smoother qualifying campaign than for World Cup 2002 when nine players refused to make the trip to Israel, because of the political situation in the Middle East

They did manage to scrape into second place but, with the nine players subsequently excluded from selection for the play-offs, the team were soundly beaten by Turkey.

Belarus
Coach: Eduard Malofeev
Belarus approach the Euro 2004 qualifying group stage having almost reached the World Cup in Korea and Japan.

Belarus just missed out on a play-off spot after losing 2-0 to Ukraine in their last game.

Nevertheless, coach Eduard Malofeev has moulded the team into a competitive force, particularly at home where they have won four out of their last five matches.

They will hope to build on those performances in Euro 2004.

Moldova
Coach: Viktor Pasulko Fifth-seeded Moldova generally adopt a defensive approach, packing the midfield and leaving their star player Serghei Kleshenko in attack on his own.

Kleshenko helped Israeli team Hapoel Tel-Aviv pull off a memorable Uefa Cup victory against Chelsea back in September.

That same month Moldova also beat Azerbaijan 2-0 to record their first win for six years.

Viktor Pasulko is the new man in charge of the side.
