Sweden have named Celtic striker Henrik Larsson in their 23-man squad for the 2004 European Championship in Portugal. Larsson initially retired from international football following the 2002 World Cup finals.
He came out of retirement to play in a Euro 2004 qualifying win over Hungary in April 2003 and last week decided to make himself available again.
Larsson is one of eight British-based players in the squad for the tournament, which kicks off on 12 June.
Larsson is joined by Celtic team-mate Johan Mjallby, Aston Villa pair Olof Mellberg and Marcus Allback, Michael Svensson and Anders Svensson of Southampton, Everton's Tobias Linderoth and Fredrik Ljungberg of Arsenal.
Larsson's comeback is a huge boost for Sweden, who face Italy, Denmark and Bulgaria in Group C. "He's got two qualities that make him the player he is - one is that he is a fine goalscorer, but at the same time is a very good team player," joint coach Lars Lagerback said.
"He makes the team and his team-mates good, not least because of his mobility and his incredible running ability. He also has a fantastic understanding of the game, he's a very all round player.
"As Henrik often says himself, you have to remember that football is a team sport and one player never decides the outcome of a game, but his presence definitely means a rise in quality on and off the pitch."
