A genuine left winger, Jerome Rothen's steady supply of crosses has been a major factor in Monaco's challenge for domestic and European glory. A product of France's renowned school at Clairefontaine, Rothen took his time to make an impact at Caen and Troyes.
Rothen joined Monaco for �3m in the summer of 2002 and made his debut for France less than a year later.
Coach Jacques Santini was unable to ignore Rothen after he earned universal praise for his league performances.
He was a member of the victorious 2003 Confederations Cup squad and gives Santini a different option in midfield.
Like many of his Monaco team-mates, this season's performances have put the 26-year-old in the shop window with clubs such as Manchester United and AC Milan said to be interested in him.
