As the game against Greece unfolded, I watched in disbelief at what was happening before my eyes.

Never did I imagine the Greeks would knock out the French, but knock out the French they did.

France were most people's pre-Euro 2004 pick to win and they showed signs of European champions status at times.

But against the Greeks, they looked disinterested and devoid of any ideas and it will be interesting to see what happens in the ensuing fall-out.

The biggest setback of all would be if this was to be the international swansong of playmaker Zinedine Zidane.

He still has so much to offer and can turn a game in an instant, even if he failed to do that against Greece!
