 | BULGARIA 0-2 DENMARK |
Denmark coach Morten Olsen paid tribute to Jesper Gronkjaer, who returned to the side after the death of his mother and scored in the win over Bulgaria. Gronkjaer came on as a first-half substitute after an injury to Dennis Rommedahl and Olsen said: "Jesper wasn't fit to play a whole match.
"When he went on it was too early for him really but he showed fantastic character."
He added: "That speaks for him, and speaks for the team."
"It was a really important goal for Denmark, and a really important goal for me personally.
"After all that's happened it was a relief to get back playing football - it's what I do best."
Bulgaria were knocked out as a result of the defeat and were eliminated without putting up much of a fight.
Olsen said: "We saw a different Bulgaria, they were very fast against Sweden and from the beginning they had another strategy against us."
