Leeds 1-4 Arsenal

Arsenal continued their current blistering form at Elland Road - and in doing so rewrote the record books.

Two strikes from Kanu, as well as goals from Kolo Toure and Thierry Henry, ensured the Gunners have now scored in 47 consecutive games, breaking Chesterfield's 71-year-old record.

In beating Leeds, Arsene Wenger's side have also broken Nottingham Forest's top-flight record of 22 away League games without defeat and equalled Manchester United's Premiership total of 29 matches unbeaten.

Victory was no less than the visitors deserved after yet another scintillating performance, stifling Leeds while attacking with awesome pace.

Suggestions that the Arsenal players would be tired after their midweek Champions League exertions proved - for Leeds at least - to be horrendously wrong.

And with the likes of Robert Pires and Giovanni van Bronckhorst yet to return from injury, there is no sign of them losing their current momentum.

Leeds never recovered after conceding an early goal - and Harry Kewell's late strike was nothing more than a consolation.

Kanu scored for Arsenal with the first meaningful attack of the match.

Gary Kelly - recalled to the team at left back in place of nephew Ian Harte - was caught in possession by Ashley Cole deep in his own half.

Cole passed to Toure, who burst in to the Leeds area before squaring the ball for a completely unmarked Kanu to pick his spot from six yards.

Henry almost doubled the Gunners lead after latching on to Lauren's superb diagonal through ball but was denied by a fine Paul Robinson save.

More poor defending quickly led to an Arsenal second.

Danny Mills directed a clearance straight at Sylvain Wiltord, who reached the bye-line before dinking a precise cross for Tore to head home.

Gilberto Silva nearly made it three after 23 minutes but his glancing header from an Henry corner was headed off the line by Kelly, partially atoning for his previous error.

Leeds, in contrast, had virtually nothing to show for their first-half endeavour except for a shot from Kewell that Davis Seaman saved with his legs five minutes before the break.

And any hope of a Leeds revival was snuffed out within two minutes of the restart.

Henry latched on to Kanu's slide-rule pass and skipped past Lucas Radebe before slipping the ball home from a tight angle.

Mark Viduka went close for Leeds with a free-kick shortly afterwards but Arsenal continued to dominate with their flowing football.

Leeds refused to surrender, though, and looked the likeliest to add to the scoring.

Alan Smith - fiery throughout despite being booked after six minutes - superbly met Lee Bowyer's free-kick but his header crashed against the crossbar.

With six minutes of normal time left, the home side finally got their consolation.

Seaman twice parried from Bowyer but the ball broke to the disappointing Kewell, who fired home.

Arsenal immediately restored their-three-goal advantage when Kanu scored his second of the game.
