Sunderland hold Blackburn to a goalless draw, but Chelsea come back to beat Charlton 3-2 at The Valley.

Everton and Spurs share the points at Goodison, as do Southampton and Middlesbrough at St Mary's.

But Fulham thump Bolton 4-1 in their first match at their temporary Loftus Road home.

Phil Neville and Nicky Butt come in for Man Utd who drop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the bench; United old boy Ronnie Wallwork is a substitute for West Brom.

Youngster Wayne Rooney lines up in Everton's attack with Kevin Campbell and Tomasz Radzinski; Jamie Redknapp starts in the Spurs midfield, but fellow newcomer Milenko Acimovic is on the bench.

New signings Nicolas Anelka, Marc-Vivien Foe and Sylvain Distin all make their debuts for Man City at Elland Road; Nicky Barmby is part of a Leeds midfield which boss Terry Venables has called a "revolving unit". And Paul Robinson is in goal at Nigel Martyn's expense.

Massimo Maccarone, George Boateng and Geremi start for Middlesbrough against Southampton; Marian Pahars is surprisingly fit to lead the Saints line.

Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke are up front together for Blackburn at home to Sunderland, who hand a debut to new defender Stephen Wright.

Gary Rowett takes his place in Charlton's back line at home to Chelsea, who include Spanish midfielder Enrique De Lucas in their starting line-up.
