We must win last five - Magilton

Jim Magilton hopes to point his team back towards the play-offs

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton claims his team have to win all their remaining five games to be sure of making the Championship play-offs.

Town stand eighth, just two points out of the play-off places, ahead of Wednesday's home date with Cardiff.

But Magilton insists: "We have to win all five. All five should definitely get you in there, but it's probably going to go right to the wire.

"There are still lots of twists and turns to come," he told BBC Suffolk.

"Any side are capable of taking points off each other and if we're still in there on the fourth of May when we play Hull City at home then I'll be a happy man."

Local rivals Norwich City are also due at Portman Town on Sunday. But the first of those five remaining games is against Wembley-bound FA Cup finalists Cardiff - and Magilton has selection problems, being without the injured Jon Walters, David Norris, Shefki Kuqi and the suspended Pablo Counago.

Defeat for Cardiff would all but end their own promotion bid. And, although Magilton knows his opposite number Dave Jones well, having been managed by him in their days together at Southampton, for 90 minutes their friendship will be put to one side.
