Nuneaton Town were beaten 1-0 by Sutton Coldfield in the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday.
The holders Boro went down to a first-half effort from Jonathan Jones at the Lamb in Tamworth.
The defeat comes just two days after Kevin Wilkin's team suffered heartbreak in the Blue Square North play-offs.
But Stratford Town did have cause to celebrate as they beat Boldmere St Michaels 4-2 to win the Midland Alliance League Cup.
Sam Alsop scored twice for Stratford in the final at Wallsall's Banks' Stadium.
