Nuneaton Town's promotion bid hit by Gainsborough

Nuneaton Town's play-off bid was dented by a 2-1 home defeat by Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

The visitors, fighting to avoid the drop in the Blue Square Bet North, took the lead in the first half through a Leon Mettam effort.

Boro equalised eight minutes after the interval courtesy of Kyle Storer's free-kick.

But Trinity ensured they took a welcome three points back to Lincolnshire thanks to Ryan Kendall's header.

Elsewhere Leamington goalkeeper Tony Breedon scored for the 10-man Brakes as they beat Chesham United 3-2 at the New Windmill Ground to maintain their promotion push in the Zamaretto Premier Division.

There was little joy for the Warwickshire clubs in Zamaretto One Central with Bedworth United the only team to pick up a point thanks to a goalless draw at Woodford.

Rugby Town were beaten 3-1 at home to Arlesy, while Atherstone Town were thrashed 5-1 at Biggleswade.
