Weymouth boss Martyn Rogers targets winning streak

Weymouth manager Martyn Rogers believes the club is capable of the winning run needed to avoid relegation from the Zamaretto League Premier Division.

The Terras, who were deducted 10 points at the start of this season after going into administration, are bottom of the table with just seven wins in 26 games.

Rogers said he had told his players every game is a 'must win' game.

"We're in a relegation battle and we're going to need a run of wins to get out of it," he told BBC Radio Solent.

Rogers, who became Weymouth manager after Ian Hutchinson was sacked last month, has had an impressive start with the Terras.

The Terras beat Hemel Hempstead Town 2-1 in Rogers' first game in charge on January 18 and then secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Halesowen Town on Saturday.

"I've been very pleased to get two wins in two, it's obviously a good start but I realise we still have a lot of work to do.

"The mood certainly is positive and the attitude of the players has been first class," said Rogers.

"They were buoyant after the game on Saturday and rightly so, they played some good football and deserved to win."

Weymouth travel to Oxford City this Saturday, who are four places and five points above the Terras in the league table.

"They're in same position as us so it's another big game for us.

"But everybody is rowing in the same boat at the moment and we go in there with a bit more confidence than what we had a few months ago."
