Beckett strikes twice as Gainsborough beat Redditch
Luke Beckett has scored three goals in Gainsborough's last two games
Luke Beckett scored twice as Gainsborough Trinity beat Redditch United 4-1 in Blue Square Bet North.
Beckett's first-half brace was followed after the break by goals from Andrew Boyce and Ryan Kendall before Matt Smith's late consolation for Redditch.
Trinity boss Brian Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "The goals weren't the greatest in the world but I didn't think for a minute we would win 4-1.
"It was a battle, it wasn't a pretty match but it's a great result."
On a heavily sanded pitch at Valley Stadium, Beckett turned home Kendall's knock-down after nine minutes and doubled Trinity's lead 10 minutes later.
Boyce made it 3-0 from a long throw on 55 minutes, with Kendall slotting home Leon Mettam's pass in the 81st minute before Smith pulled a goal back for the division's bottom side three minutes later.
Little added: "We had to apply ourselves properly. It was important to put them under pressure and get the ball in the box and their nervousness would probably come through, and it did and we won well in the end."
