Referee apologises to Ebbsfleet United boss Liam Daish
Daish's Ebbsfleet currently lie sixth in Blue Square Bet South
Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish has received an apology from referee Alun-Wyn Davies after he sent off Ashley Carew in their FA Cup tie with AFC Wimbledon.
The midfielder was dismissed for two bookable offences in the 0-0 draw.
"I was up the golf club and I got a phonecall from the referee," Daish told the Non-League Show.
"He said he'd seen the incident and just wanted to apologise - he admitted that he'd made a major mistake, which I respect and I appreciate."
Despite the apology Daish said the dismissal could not be overturned because it was for a second yellow card, rather than a straight red.
He said: "The crazy thing is that the video has shown he made a mistake - he's admitted to that but when you go to the FA and say this should be rescinded they don't want to know.
I appreciate the ref ringing me up but if the FA isn't going to change anything I'd rather he didn't ring me because it's just rubbing salt in the wound

"To me if you're lucky enough to play in front of the cameras and you have that video and the referee comes out and says he's made a mistake - that should be there to protect the players as well.
"I've now got a player who will sit up in the stand in two weeks time and I've still got to pay him.
"Everyone has seen that it wasn't his fault - the referee has held his hand up.
"I appreciate the ref ringing me up but if the FA isn't going to change anything I'd rather he didn't ring me because it's just rubbing salt in the wound."
Meantime, the replay between the two sides has been switched to Thursday, 18 November as it will now be televised - providing a much-needed financial boost for the Fleet.
