Boston's Hurst and Scott 'in no rush' to sign new deals

Boston United

Boston United's Paul Hurst says he and co-manager Rob Scott are in contract talks with chairman David Newton, but that they are in no rush to sign deals.

The duo took charge in May 2009 and led the Pilgrims to promotion to Blue Square Bet North last season.

Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire: "We're not signing a 10-year contract and at the same time we're not leaving next week.

"We're more than happy with how things are going. There's certainly no panic and no rush to get anything sorted."

The Pilgrims are second in the table and their good start to the season led to Hurst and Scott being linked with the vacant manager's post at Lincoln City.

We're pleased that the Lincoln thing has gone now

Hurst was concerned that the speculation, which has now died down, may have been unsettling the club.

"We're pleased that the Lincoln thing has gone now," he said.

"The fans are asking all the questions and although the players never really brought it up, I'm sure they've seen things and we don't want anything to detract from what we are doing here or take our eye off the ball.

"We're firmly focused on the job in hand and we want to try and get the club promoted again."

Marc Newsham, Spencer Weir-Daley and Danny Sleath were Boston's scorers in Saturday's 3-0 win at Hyde which has left the Pilgrims one point behind league leaders Alfreton and maintained their unbeaten Blue Square Bet North away record.
