Gainsborough Trinity begin season with win at Worcester
Jefferson Louis and Sam Aiston scored as Gainsborough Trinity won 2-1 at Worcester City in Blue Square North.
Debutant Louis headed Trinity in front in the opening minute with Aiston's strike doubling the lead on 20 minutes.
Neil Cartwright pulled a goal back four minutes before the break but Trinity held firm in the second half to win.
Manager Brian Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "When you're away on the first day of the season it's never easy so I'm delighted to have won."
He added: "For the first half-hour I felt we might go on to win quite comfortably, we went two goals up and had two or three good half-chances.
"A few minutes from half-time we lost a bit of our shape and conceded a goal but I thought we defended well in the second half.
"We played a lot of games last season where we played some really good football and lost, so we've tried to create a team which will give teams problems.
"I thought we were strong in the areas we need to be at this level, and I'm pleased with the result and to have hung on in the second half."
