City player-coach Cambridge spent ten years with previous club Histon
Cambridge City could makes moves for former Histon frontmen Craig Hammond and Andrew Tidswell, according to City player-coach Adie Cambridge.
The pair featured in City's friendly against Newmarket on Tuesday but have yet to be offered deals.
"I've known Craig for many years and he's always scored goals," Cambridge told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"He didn't get much luck at Histon but I know what he's capable of. Hopefully we can bring that out of him."
Hammond, 21, played four times for Histon last season after scoring on a regular basis for Royston, but was released this summer along with 20-year-old Tidswell, who scored once in 18 appearances for the Stutes.
They will get another chance to impress boss Gary Roberts in a friendly with Great Shelford on Saturday.
It couldn't have been worse really

"Andy did speak to the manager about other things that are going for him," Cambridge added.
"But it's still up to Andy, if he puts the effort in and wants to be here I'm sure Gary will back him up on it."
Meanwhile the fixtures for this season's Southern Premier Division have been released, with the Lilywhites set to travel to Brackley on the opening day.
"It couldn't have been worse really," said Cambridge.
"Brackley are the league's big spenders and have made big signings. I'm sure there's one or two others who have thrown a bit of money at it, but the big names seem to be going to Brackley."
