AFC Sudbury chairman Keith Morris believes the club's move to the Ryman League will be a financial benefit to them next season.
The Suffolk side have made the switch to the Ryman Division One North from the Zamaretto Division One Midlands - both the eighth tier in England.
Sudbury can now expect to do less travelling for fixtures next season.
Morris told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Travelling was a big issue. Costs will obviously come down dramatically."
He added: "We hope to see an increase in home attendances with the visiting teams' supporters and we hope AFC supporters start travelling to those games that are only an hour away."
While the two leagues are at a similar level on the football ladder, boss Nicky Smith hopes he will be able to attract local players, who were previously concerned with travelling long distances for games.
Morris said: "Nicky had two very defined sets of players. Some were happy to travel come what may and they tended to be the younger ones in the squad.
"Nicky's over the moon now and I think he's got a few players coming down to the club to have a look around."
Sudbury finished this season 14th in the Zamaretto Division One Midlands.
