Young is Telford's reigning player of the season

Goalkeeper Ryan Young has pledged his future to AFC Telford United - if they want to renew his contract.

"I love it here. I don't want to go anywhere," the Bucks' 2008-09 player of the season told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Young, 30, has also urged his team-mates to draw on the experience of seemingly missing the play-offs.

"We need to bounce back, and for whoever's here next season hopefully this has been a real learning curve," said the former Hednesford keeper.

The Bucks made the Blue Square North play-off final last season, but look like falling short after three losses in their last four games this time round.

"It was fantastic last season, but we'll probably learn more this season," added Young, who has been an ever-present in the Telford side both this and the previous campaign.

And of his desire to be kept on at the club, he revealed: "Some fans might think they can do better than Ryan Young, but I think I've had a good season again.

"I haven't made many mistakes - probably about the same as last season. But because of the season we've had, if the keeper makes a mistake it's highlighted - whereas last season we'd go on and win the match.

"But I'm a strong person, I work as hard as I can, I love the club and I want to stay here."

Young took three of the club's player of the year awards after a series of outstanding displays throughout last season, when Telford lost in the play-off final, reached the semi-finals of the FA Trophy, and won the Setanta Shield.

Young made three consecutive penalty shoot-out saves in the final when Telford overcame Blue Square Premier side Forest Green.
