Manager Dean Thomas hails resilient Hinckley United

Thomas says Hinckley must not panic after two poor displays

Hinckley United boss Dean Thomas has paid tribute to his side's resilience after a tough run in Blue Square North.

The Knitters won 1-0 at Ilkeston Town on Saturday following two defeats and a draw from three matches against teams in the lower half of the table.

Thomas told BBC Sport: "We have bounced back from one or two poor results. It was a massive performance, a special win and a big three points."

Hinckley are in third spot in the table and look well set for a play-off place.

Thomas said: "We rolled up our sleeves, dug in and their keeper was far the busier of the two.

"Other results also went our way," he added. " Our destiny is in our hands. We have 11 league games left and seven of those are at home so we are in a strong position."

The win against Kevin Wilson's Ilkeston helped erase the painful memories of the 3-2 home defeat against Hyde, where Thomas saw his depleted side beaten by two injury-time goals.

"We did not give a good account of ourselves," Thomas added: "We had possession but not the ability or energy to break them down. We didn't do enough and made mistakes for the goals."

Hinckley play host to league leaders Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
