Brian Little pleased as changes earn Gainsborough draw
Little felt Trinity needed to stand up to the direct style of other teams
Gainsborough Trinity manager Brian Little was pleased to see his tactical changes pay off as his side drew 0-0 with Ilkeston Town at the Northolme.
It was Trinity's first clean sheet in Blue Square North since October.
Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "In terms of position and personnel we made eight or nine changes and we defended well.
"We played a powerful, well organised side in a physical game and we came out of it with something and hopefully we can build from there."
Trinity's side included new signings Alan O'Hare, who was returning to the club for a second loan spell from York, and Anthony Peters in defence, with Mark Greaves in a defensive midfield role.
Little said: "Teams in this league are a lot more direct than we have been, so I had to mix my team up a bit.
"I tried to put out as powerful a side as I could so there were a lot of changes today but ultimately that's my job, to try to pick a team that gets something."
In the Unibond Premier Division, Liam Parker scored the winner seven minutes into added time as Boston United beat Buxton 2-1 at York Street.
The Pilgrims, who had Gareth Davies sent off in the first half, had led 1-0 through Shaun Pearson's 59th minute header, but a goal five minutes from time by Mark Reed levelled the scores.
In the Unibond First Division South, Ben Garrick grabbed a hat-trick as Lincoln United beat Quorn 4-0 at Ashby Avenue, with the Whites' other goal coming from Sam Wilkinson.
There was also a hat-trick for Grantham Town's Niall O'Rafferty as they won 4-1 at home to bottom side Willenhall Town. The Gingerbreads' other goal was scored by Ben Saunders.
Dan Cotton was on target to earn Stamford a share of the points in a 1-1 draw with mid-table rivals Market Drayton Town, while Stuart King scored a late consolation for Spalding United in the Tulips' 3-1 defeat at Sheffield FC.
