Workington boss Edmondson seeks Stevenage cup shock
Edmondson has seen his side progress to the last eight of the Trophy
Workington boss Darren Edmondson is confident his side can compete with Blue Square Premier leaders Stevenage in the FA Trophy quarter-finals.
Reds have already accounted for Rushden & Diamonds and AFC Wimbledon in the Trophy and Edmondson believes his side are capable of another cup shock.
"We've got another massive journey but it's the quarter-final of the Trophy," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"It's a massive test, but we've overcome two top Conference sides."
Progress in the FA Trophy has coincided with a fine 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions stretching back to mid-November, pushing Reds into a comfortable mid-table position in Blue Square North.
Edmondson is aware his players have been buoyed by their cup exploits and is keen to ensure their hard work in the league does not go to waste.
"We'll have to get their feet back on the ground on Tuesday and Thursday and bring them down and remind them what Saturday is going to be about, and we've got a game next Tuesday as well," he said.
"The games come thick and fast at the moment and it's a job for me and Viv Busby, we've got to concentrate on the league now and talk about some of the teams in our league and the fans will look at this and say 'Why don't we win all the games that we're in?'
"It puts more pressure on the boys, the more cup games they win, there's more pressure when they're playing in the league.
"It's a tough month for the lads, they've got to think about what they're doing and how they approach games.
"They've got to take a bit of pressure now and our home fans will be expecting wins every time we play at home now so that's added pressure for them."
Workington's FA Trophy quarter-final tie with Stevenage Borough takes place on Saturday, 20 February, with Reds at home to Solihull Moors on Saturday, 6 February.
