Woking boss Graham Baker says the promotion race is on
Woking boss Graham Baker says the race for promotion from Blue Square South is starting to heat up.
The Cards lie fifth in the table and are hoping to bounce straight back up to the Blue Square Premier after relegation last season.
Baker told BBC Surrey: "It all really starts from here, this is where the race really starts.
"It's who picks up the baton now and drives on for the second half of the season," he added.
"The next three to four weeks are going to be key to the season.
"Then you'll probably see whoever has a good run in the next three of four games are going to cement their place and you might then start to see a little gap appear, say, between five and six and the rest of the pack."
Baker added: "We've got to make sure that we stay in there and pick up some wins against some teams around us which is important."
Woking will have his chance to overtake a promotion rival when the Cards host second-placed Dover on Saturday afternoon.
"Like every other club in this division, they are very difficult games. They're going to come here, they've had good recent form, they've gone above us and they're still in the Trophy.
"We know it's going to be a big game, but we look forward to the big games," Baker added.
