Maidstone's future is in doubt - Paul Bowden-Brown

Maidstone United chairman Paul Bowden-Brown says the current cold weather has placed the club's future in doubt.

Stones, who currently play at Ashford Town's ground, have played one home game in the last six weeks.

Their FA Trophy first round tie with Histon has suffered six postponements while landlords Ashford have not played a home league game since October.

"If this continues it will kill us and Ashford Town," Bowden-Brown told BBC Radio Kent.

Compounding Stones' problems is a threat that the club may be forced to surrender their home advantage to Trophy opponents Histon.

Bowden-Brown disclosed that the FA have asked the club to consider switching the tie.

And he added: "The FA are suggesting we play at Histon next Monday," he said.

Stones have ruled out a groundshare with another Kent club because they would have to pay a rental fee.
