Woking's eight-game unbeaten run was brought to an end thanks to a 1-0 home defeat by Newport County.
The Cards had an opportunity to level Sam Foley's 29th-minute strike only for midfielder Sam Sloma to miss a penalty.
Boss Graham Baker told BBC Surrey: "It's always disappointing to lose your home games, no matter whether it's against a top team or a bottom team.
"The stats don't lie. We're playing at home and not scoring prolifically. It was always going to be a tight game."
Baker added: "It was tight, it was tense, and they've taken their one half-chance very well. They gave it their all, the players, without really creating clear cut chances."
