Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver was upbeat about his side's display despite losing 3-0 at promoted Corby Town in their opening Blue Square North game.
"We didn't get the rub of the green official-wise on key decisions which proved to be defining moments in the game," he told BBC York.
"It has cost us but the league is not won or lost in one game.
"We played some very good football, there were some very positive aspects to come out of the game."
Corby's first goal came after Weaver felt there was a handball in the build-up, the second goal looked offside and the third goal was a penalty.
"It's disheartening when you, as a manager, think there are obvious things in front of your own two eyes that went off and didn't get seen," Weaver lamented, "but it's gone now."
Harrogate Town have a good chance to achieve their first win under Weaver when they entertain Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday.
"I can't get downhearted because the performance was so good at times," he said.
"We weren't stretched, they weren't playing through us, and we can't wait to go at (on Tuesday) and impress the fans.
"It's up to the management now to get round and encourage (the players) because we've got six points to play for in the next week."
