Redditch United have announced the North East Worcestershire College are to be the club's main sponsors for the coming Blue Square North season.

The Reds' chairman Ken Rae said they were delighted to have sealed the deal with a locally based organisation.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to further forge links with our local community," he said.

"Hopefully this season will be the first of many working together with our neighbours at NEW College."

Redditch is delighted to have secured a main sponsor after the problems of last season resulted in their deal with Thailand-based sportswear manufacturers Kool Sports falling through.

That proposed deal was due to be worth about £40,000 to Redditch over two seasons.

Ken Rae says everyone at the club is pleased the deal has been finalised in time for the start of the Blue Square North season and hopes this could be the start of a mutually beneficial partnership.

"This deal enables the college to have a formal link with the town's football club," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Who knows, we may be able to encourage some of the students to come along to The Valley Stadium and get involved with the club and maybe even generate some footballing stars of the future."
