Leamington missed the chance to be crowned champions of the Southern League Midlands Division after losing 3-1 to Chasetown on Monday.

The game was already beyond Brakes by the time Jai Stanley netted a consolation at the New Windmill.

The champions-elect will hope to secure the title in Saturday's match at home to bottom club Malvern Town.

Atherstone Town are out of the race for automatic promotion after losing 2-0 at home to second placed Nuneaton Town.

Gareth Dean and David Blenkinsopp did the damage for Boro in the first half at Sheepy Road and are now the only team able to catch Leamington.

Bedworth United beat Malvern 3-0 at The Oval, Ricky Hill, Adam Kinder and Jermaine Gordon all netting after the interval.

Rugby Town are in danger of being sucked into the relegation zone in the Premier Division, their cause not helped by a 2-0 defeat at home to leaders Corby Town.

Valley are two places above the bottom four but only on goal-difference, although they do have a game in hand over fourth-bottom Banbury United.
