Durham City's lead at the top of the Unibond First Division North was cut to five points after Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Wakefield.
An equaliser from City defender Richard Smith in the 76th minute cancelled out James Dudgeon's 57th-minute opener.
Colwyn Bay's 5-2 at Bamber Bridge pushed them into second, at the expense of Newcastle Blue Star who lost 1-0 at Chorley and drop down to fifth.
