Conference to delay review report

Eddie Hutchinson
Oxford's failure to properly register Eddie Hutchinson cost them five points

The Football Conference is set to delay reporting the findings of an internal review into its procedures until after an appeal from Crawley Town is heard.

Crawley, Oxford United, Mansfield Town and Bognor Regis have all been deducted points for fielding ineligible players.

The Conference has no online facility to check that player registration forms have been received and processed.

A subcommittee is due to report to the Conference board on Monday but findings will not be made public immediately.

Oxford United have accepted their punishment without appeal but fans group OxVox have presented a protest petition.

The petition, which was handed over at the Football Conference headquarters in Birmingham, has been signed by thousands of fans of all the clubs affected by points penalties.
